Custom Subwoofer
Box
If you are
thinking of adding a subwoofer to your truck or car, you really
should consider a custom fit subwoofer box. The addition of a
subwoofer to any vehicle's OEM sound system will boost the
sound quality immediately. The one thing that slows down many
is deciding where to mount that subwoofer.
Generally speaking you will have two choices when installing
a subwoofer in your car or truck. You will either have to find
space to install a large and bulky subwoofer box or you'll have
to shop for a custom-fit subwoofer box. The custom subwoofer
enclosure is always the best choice. Not only will the custom
fit subwoofer box take up less space in your vehicle but it
makes for a more secure installation. If you have ever walked
up to your truck in a parking lot to see some guy looking in
the window at your $500 sub, you know exactly what I mean.
In most cases the custom subwoofer enclosure hides your
expensive subwoofer out of site and gives the impression of a
factory installed accessory totally integrated into your
truck's interior. The other benefit is because
the custom fit subwoofer box is securely mounted under or
behind a seat, it will prevent any road rattle or noise
caused by vibration. You'll get great sound quality from a
custom fit subwoofer box. Most custom subwoofer boxes are
actually small sealed sub enclosures and tuned for good
sound quality. JL Audio Stealthboxes, QLogic Custom and
MTX Thunderforms are well known custom fit subwoofer
boxes. They are molded of various composite materials
which produce nice rich sounding bass.
There are also companies such as Atrend and Obcon who makes
a huge variety of custom fit subwoofer boxes from MDF. Many of
these boxes are also in Ported or Vented construction. The
vented or ported custom subwoofer boxes do tend to produce
louder bass then the sealed enclosures. They also are usually a
bit less expensive then the molded composite types also.
